La Montesina in Sanford

This place is not what it used to be. We limit our purchases to pizza and calzones. Definitely do not recommend the chicken parmesan.

It is my all time favorite. I have gone so many times the owner and waitress already know my order when I walk in. My favorite is the spaghetti.

What a great little place. Am traveling and found it on Google. First impression is that it is just another burger and fries place. Doesn't have the Italian atmosphere one would expect. But the the ratings are correct....delicious home made Amer-Italian meals with excellent service. Tried the spaghetti with meat sauce and it was surprisingly tasty and plentiful. Homemade Caesar salad dressing....very good. Very reasonable prices!!The meal was so good, I ordered their Chicken Parmasiana to go.Am not surprised to find that La Montesina is crowded during lunch hour. Would like to return when in this area again.

This pizza was soaked in oil, so badly was not able to eat it. Also oil soaked the bottom of the box it was to go so in the drive home oil came from bottom of box and ruin the cloth in my car seat. Pizza that came out of oven that oily should have been thrown in trash and just start over, not have made me the customer pay for someones mistake.

The Staff is wonderful...but The owner or cook..lies to me all the Time in come here for lunch because I love cook food...and i Love Pizza-Fresh Pizza!!9 times out of 10 it pizza from day before or hours old Pizza...the dough is always falling and the crust is Hard the cheese is not fresh if it was it would be stretching of the pizza..not orange and dry....i know pizza eat it all the time..Fresh Pizza has Soft Dougherty and Cheese that wants to fall off..The Lil Guy is a lier when it comes to fresh Pizza...the other dishes is i ight...this is the Guy who wants Fresh Pizza!

Great when it's great and horrible when it's not. Very inconsistent to the point of I'm beginning to wonder if the staff is completely different from day to day or week to week.

This food is absolutely delicious. We have had the pizza (can be a little greasy), Stromboli, calzone, and cheesy garlic bread. Favorite is the calzone! THE PORTIONS ARE HUGE! We got 2 large calzones and garlic bread that cost us $38... shocked by the price but SO worth it because it’s basically 3 or 4 meals. They also don’t skimp on the dipping sauce which I greatly appreciate! I normally ask for extra wherever I go. They give enough sauce for dinner and leftovers! They have a rewards card, you buy so many large pizzas and you get one free. Doesn’t count for large calzones or Stromboli’s which I think is a bummer.

This is by far the best Italian food in Sanford. The owner and his wife are amazing, this isn't just a restaurant to them, it's a way of life. They always take the time to ensure you are enjoying the food and are just amazing to converse with. The food is always fresh, and quickly prepared, and if you have an issue, which you shouldn't, they also strive to resolve it immediately. Everyone I know that goes here regularly loves it. Keep it up!

Really nice place that manages to do it all. They have good prices, good lunch specials, and beer and wine. And good food! I generally order pasta, but have tried their pizza which was also good. But I've never tried their desserts because I am always full!

So stoped in for a late lunch and I'm super happy I did. Fast service and friendly staff. Got the Stromboli and like it. I will be back. Also they have gluten free pizza as well

Weekly visitors and while the spaghetti is not wowing everything else is amazing. My husband is Sicilian and often states it reminds him of his grandmothers cooking. Love our server Taylor and the owners.

Awesome food. Always delicious and fresh. Servers 4.75 out of 5. Most sharp and on point but a couple need a little more training. Good prices too. Always enjoy myself with the wifey.

This had to be the worst spaghetti I have ever eaten. The pasta was runny and undercooked and the sauce was over sweet, sickening. They forgot my Salad dressing but it didn't matter because the iceberg was old and just chunks with overripe old tomatoes and cucumbers. Worst attempt at Italian than any restaurant I have ever eaten at...and for $11.00. I could've gone in food lion and bought ragu and enjoyed it more. the garlic bread was 1/2 a dinner roll with absolutely no garlic and it was not toasted. The spaghetti did not have meatballs either, just tiny chunks of hamburger.

Just ordered a cheesesteak and it was the worst steak I've ever had, especially for the price.. I am from Philly so I know cheesesteaks and this one should not even be allowed to be called a cheesesteak! First of all the cheesesteak cost $7 and didn't even come with fries! 2nd it was a 6 inch roll with hardly any steak! The lettuce was under the steak which clearly made the lettuce hot and soggy. Who does that?! Taste like it was a box of steak-ems.. horrible experience, not to mention it smelled in the doorway where u walk in. That should have been my sign to take my appetite elsewhere.. maybe the other dishes are their specialty but based off my cheesesteak I won't ever go back to find out.. will just have to drive to Pittsboro to John's Pizza.. - Frustrated Foodie

The owner greets everyone. He makes recomendations when asked. His Steak Stromboli sandwiches are the best I've ever had. Not overloaded with dough. My wife (who is Italian) raved about the manicotti stuffed eggplant parmesan. We will be back many times. There is no doubt.

Hidden gem in Sanford! I live close by and had never tried it because it never looked very busy but my brother took me there with some more family and it was excellent! We got this family deal..large pepperoni pizza, chicken wings, salad, steak sandwich, and lasagna..and I think I'm the only one who got water, but everything came to like $32 with tax and drinks! This fed 4 adults and a 5 year old with a piece of pizza left over! And everything was excellent! Will definitely be back!

Got a pepperoni stromboli. Was pretty good. Might have been better if the head chef was not out for surgery, but the back-up did a nice job. The girl running the place did so well having servers call in, and no back-up for them. She needs a raise, big time. She didn't think she was doing well, but considering the challenges, she was a rockstar today. Thank you, and I'll be returning to see what it is like on a "typical" day with a full staff.

Really good food and service was excellent. My only complaint is when we walked into the foyer, it smelled like they had a sewer backed up. It was awful! I wanted to turned around and leave but my husband talked me into staying. It may have been due to all of the rain???

EXTREMELY overpriced. Practically criminal.. I ordered the shrimp scampi and received 4 shrimp on a bed of noodles with an oily, flavorless sauce and 10 lemon seeds. FOR 17 DOLLARS. Tasted like cafeteria food at the price of a luxury Italian restaurant. I would not recommend spending any money here until they deliver meals that reflect the price paid.

Our families favorite go to place to eat. Staff is friendly and inviting. The food is great and we'll priced. The family special us enough to take home extra for lunch the next day.
